COUNSELLING
HOPE. MEANING. WHOLENESS.
OUR HEART
At CityHill Church, our heart is to see God bring redemption and restoration in the lives of the community we serve. We offer safe and confidential lay Christian counselling to anyone in need, both within the church and in the broader community.
WHAT WE OFFER
Christian Lay Counselling
Counselling is provided by dedicated volunteers who have been trained in lay Christian counselling [they are not psychologists].
For this reason, they cannot counsel within the scope of any mental health diagnoses/addictions/major depression/legal issues.
Guidance for Life Challenges
While our lay counsellors are not professional therapists, they are equipped to work within their skill set to support and guide you through life’s challenges.
Referrals to Professionals
If your challenges require specialised care, our counsellors can help connect you with professional support.
IN CRISIS?
Please note, we are not first responders. If you require immediate assistance or are in an emergency, please visit our “Help Line“ section for urgent contacts and referrals. These emergency numbers can assist you in finding immediate support.
HOW WE WORK
Team Approach
Wherever possible, our counsellors work in pairs as part of our Counsellor Mentorship Programme, fostering collaboration and support.
Marriage / Relationship Counselling
For marriage counselling or relationship counselling, we assign a male and female counsellor to your case to provide balanced perspectives and guidance.
Waiting List
We do have a waiting list. The more flexible you can be with your available times, the easier it will be for us to match you with a counsellor.
NEXT STEPS
Before you start on this journey of healing and wholeness, this is what is expected of you
Commitment to your weekly sessions
Once a time slot is agreed upon, it is essential to commit to one-hour weekly sessions on the same day and time for a duration of 5 to 8 weeks.
diarising your sessions
It is important to note that our counsellors volunteer their valuable time and expertise and plan their schedules around your sessions, so please be mindful and prioritise your counselling sessions
Between sessions
Your counsellors will provide you with things to do that will help you to reflect on your session and prepare you for the following week; much of the healing takes place through this work.
Cost of your sessions
We are a donation-based service [where affordable]. Your contributions help provide essential resources and fund the upskilling of our counsellors

SUPPORT GROUPS
CityHill Recovery Group
Being part of a recovery community is an essential part of the recovery process for those battling with addictions as well as their family, friends and supporters. If you or someone you love is facing challenges related to substance dependence, pornography addiction or related compulsive behavioural disorders, we invite you to join our addiction recovery group where you’ll find a space of support, encouragement, empowerment, and hope.
Join us every Monday: 6:30pm – 8:00pm
GriefShare
GriefShare is a safe, welcoming place where people understand the difficult emotions of grief. Through this group, you’ll discover what to expect in the days ahead and what’s “normal” in grief. Since there are no neat, orderly stages of grief, you’ll learn helpful ways of coping with grief, in all its unpredictability—and gain solid support each step of the way.
DivorceCare
DivorceCare’s life-changing support groups welcome people and guide them on the path of recovery after separation or divorce by offering helpful counsel to manage emotional turmoil and practical tools for decision-making.
